Stephen spoke about his work and his past roles, including how he was pivotal in helping to set up the London Design Museum with Terence Conran.
As well as writing for a range of publications including The Times, GQ and Vanity Fair, he is also a consultant for manufacturing businesses including Ford, Coca-Cola and BMW. His awards include a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Honorary Fellow of the RIBA, Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales and a Fellow of Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.
Mr Bayley was in York to launch the 2016 York Design Awards and spoke to students the following day at the Hiscox building on Peasholme Green.
Warren Fearn, Head of Programme (Design), said: “The continuing support from Hiscox is invaluable to Design at York St John University. The programme has benefited in so many ways through Design workshops and client projects. It was fantastic for Hiscox to organise such an unique event and for the students to have the opportunity to meet Stephen Bayley, one of the key founders of the Design Museum.”
